There are many factors that influence the cause of bunions including genetics, and abnormal foot structure. Bunions can result in postural problems within the feet, legs and spine. The skin at the bunion site also develops conditions due to the increased pressure on the region. People with bunions also have difficulty finding footwear that will accommodate the bony prominence.

There are many treatments available to help people with bunions. These include padding, splints, orthoses, exercises and footwear. Different treatments are required for different people depending upon the cause and stage of development of the bunion.

Warts

Warts are small skin growths caused by viral infections and commonly affect the feet. There are many different types of warts, ranging in appearance from slender threads to hard, calloused lumps.

The characteristics of a wart depend on the type, but can include:
  • A small, raised bump on the skin ranging from 1 to 10 mm
  • A rough or smooth surface.
  • Appear singly or in clusters.
  • Itchiness.

There are many different reasons for warts to develop along with many different treatment options. Treatment may include topical application of medication through to freezing the wart off. Treatment can take some time. It is important to ensure that a diagnosis is made by your podiatrist prior to starting treatment.
